As Schaefer’s Director of Preconstruction for Florida, Katie Smith brings over 20 years of hands-on experience in estimating and preconstruction. With a reputation for precision and deep industry insight, Katie possesses a thorough understanding of the intricacies involved in bringing complex projects to fruition.

Katie leads all aspects of the preconstruction process—from early design collaboration through operations handoff—with a focus on scope clarity, budgeting accuracy, and schedule alignment. Leveraging advanced tools, such as ProEst and Procore, and collaborative platforms with subcontractors, Katie ensures accuracy and efficiency by drawing upon historical data to inform decision-making.

Beyond her technical expertise, Katie excels in relationship-building, actively cultivating strong connections with tradepartners, vendors, owners, and clients.
