Jess Clover
Project Manager
When Jess entered the construction industry on Valentine’s Day in 2015, she had no construction background, but she did have a plan. Eager to learn, she began her career with a local Louisville subcontractor, where she spent more than five years building a foundation in the industry and gaining experience that would ultimately take her through several different sides of commercial construction.
Her career continued with a national doors, frames, and hardware subcontractor, where she worked remotely as an Assistant Project Manager during the COVID pandemic. She later joined a company specializing in press boxes, bleachers, and stadium seating before making the transition into general contracting. Today, Jess brings that diverse subcontractor experience and perspective to her role as Project Manager at Schaefer General Contracting.
Jess approaches project management with a strong sense of urgency. When something needs attention, she enjoys developing a plan, putting it into action, and seeing it through to a successful outcome. She is equally comfortable stepping in wherever she can be useful, whether that means conducting a site walk, supporting the field team, tackling an unexpected task, or simply bringing snacks to the jobsite. For Jess, being a good teammate means recognizing what needs to be done and taking care of it without needing to be asked twice.
A thoughtful listener and clear communicator, Jess describes her leadership style as one of “quiet confidence.” She strives to be the person others want on their team: dependable, adaptable, supportive, and trusted to follow through.
Perhaps most fittingly, Jess’s current role represents a goal years in the making. When she entered the industry in 2015, she wrote a 10-year career plan that culminated in becoming a Project Manager—the very position she holds today. Having accomplished what she set out to do a decade ago, she’s looking forward to seeing where the next plan takes her.
