Schaefer completed a comprehensive and occupied renovation of the existing break room and office spaces, transforming the workplace while allowing the client’s team to remain fully operational throughout construction.

The break room renovation included demolition, expansion, and reconstruction of the existing break room and mailroom areas, along with new casework, soft-seating workspaces, upgraded finishes, and enhanced lighting and electrical systems. New finishes included acoustical ceilings, carpet tile, ceramic tile, and wall coverings, with existing lighting converted to LED and new accent lighting incorporated throughout the space. The office renovation included the demolition and reconfiguration of the existing spaces to create new private offices, conference rooms, a computer server room, and employee training areas.

Improvements also included new data, telephone, and computer wiring; a white-noise system; LED lighting; DIRTT office systems; aluminum storefront systems; new office and cubicle furniture; and updated finishes throughout.

With construction taking place in an active office environment, Schaefer carefully coordinated work to minimize disruption to daily operations. General construction activities were completed during business hours, while electrical, mechanical, and life safety work was strategically performed after hours. A third-floor debris chute further supported efficient demolition and material removal.

Through thoughtful phasing and close coordination, the renovation was completed without any lost work time for the building’s tenants—allowing business to continue while Schaefer transformed the spaces around them.
