Presbyterian USA HQ

The Presbyterian Headquarters (U.S.) sought to create a chapel that seamlessly blended traditional values with a modern aesthetic, reflecting the diverse and evolving nature of Presbyterian communities worldwide. Recognizing Schaefer’s expertise in warehouse conversions, they entrusted us with transforming two historic warehouses in Louisville’s Belknap neighborhood into a striking new corporate headquarters.

A key feature of the project is the stunning 10-foot main entry door, a custom-made, hand-carved masterpiece by world-renowned artisan Frederico Armijo of New Mexico. Inside, a cherry trellis and suspended glass prisms bathe the space in a kaleidoscope of colors, dancing across inlaid hardwood flooring. Dramatic skylights with colored glass enhance the natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Schaefer also incorporated extensive landscaping, planting trees, flowers, and greenery to further enrich the environment.

This transformation highlights Schaefer’s ability to honor historical integrity while delivering an inspiring, contemporary space that embodies the mission and values of the Presbyterian community.
