A late 1990s municipal center takes on a modern revitalization with this 6,000 SF full renovation for the Louisville Bar Association’s Member Center delivered by the Schaefer team. This transformation will help the Louisville Bar Association continue to provide value to its members and the legal community. Once an uninviting municipal center, the building is ready to welcome members back to a space that boasts bright natural lighting and facility upgrades like added conference rooms and a private phone booth with the now welcoming lobby and coworking space set under the original ceilings, paying homage to the original Seelbach Hotel.
The Schaefer team delivered a comprehensive 6,000-square-foot renovation to the Louisville Bar Association’s (LBA) Member Center, revitalizing a late 1990s municipal space to better serve the Louisville legal community. This renovation incorporated the preservation of historical elements like the original textured ceilings that honor the building’s original architecture. This thoughtful transformation allows LBA to better engage its members by blending functionality, modern design, and historical character.
The new Member Center now welcomes visitors with bright, open spaces, modern amenities, and design elements that echo the original Seelbach Hotel. Key upgrades include enhanced natural lighting, multiple conference rooms, a private soundproof phone booth, and an inviting lobby with co-working spaces set beneath original ceilings. The co-working area features display space for LBA’s awards and memorabilia, honoring both its history and future achievements.
Additional updates cater to the center’s evolving needs, such as a fully equipped catering kitchen to support local business partnerships and a more versatile seminar room with a 75-person capacity, ideal for LBA’s continuing education sessions. Staff accommodations were also modernized, adding new cubicles, a private kitchenette, and executive offices with floor-to-ceiling glass, improving both function and style.
With this transformation, Schaefer has provided LBA a refreshed space that will foster connections, inspire engagement, and support Louisville’s legal community for years to come.
