At Schaefer General Contracting (Schaefer), we believe in One Schaefer—working together to build strong communities and support one another. Participating in the American Heart Walk is one way we live out our mission of Building Confidence in Our Employees, Our Clients, and Our Communities.
This Fall, our Schaefer Louisville and Tampa teams are coming together to support the American Heart Association Heart Walks in Kentuckiana (September 12th) and Tampa Bay (November 14th). This cause hits close to home for our industry and our Schaefer family. At Schaefer, we believe the health of our teams is just as important as their physical safety. Through our One Schaefer commitment, we support our employees, strengthen our communities, and look out for one another both on and off the jobsite.
This year’s walk is especially meaningful as we walk in memory of a Schaefer team member who passed away after suffering a heart attack last October. Across both offices, team members, family members, clients, and partners will join the Schaefer team in honor of Dave Fleming. Dave was a valued member of the Schaefer team for 10 years. He is remembered as an exceptional craftsman, a dedicated teammate, and a truly wonderful person who left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
As an industry disproportionately affected by heart disease, Dave’s story reflects a reality faced by far too many construction professionals and their loved ones. Supporting the mission of the American Heart Association is deeply personal to us as we walk in Dave’s honor and in support of the many families affected by heart disease. Together, we can raise awareness, encourage healthier choices, and help fund lifesaving research and education.
